NEBULAE | SS18

This collection is a reflection of the designer’s Egyptian heritage with a main focus on her visit to Weshwash Valley in Nuweiba, Egypt. Having been immersed in the local Bedouin culture in Sinai, she has gained a new perspective and sense of appreciation for their traditional wear.

The colours, textures and textiles used throughout the collection take influence from the designer’s time there, while the garments’ silhouettes reflect the traditional garments from different cultures around the world, with a careful consideration of function and aesthetic.

Silk textiles imprinted with flora and minerals are featured in the collection. Natural fabrics are used with handwoven accessories added to highlight the collection’s vision and emphasis on the connection between fashion and nature.

garments featured are designed to be multi-functional and adaptable; worn in various ways through easy-to-adjust closures and reversible features. Utilising a sustainable and zero-waste approach, all leftover fabric scraps are upcycled into handmade textiles and features further accentuating the inspiration behind the NEBULAE collection.

NEBULAE was featured at the Melbourne Fashion Institute graduate parade runway as part of the designer’s graduate collection – where she was awarded the Designer of the Year Award, 2017.
